What was this movie called?!?

I have a flashback from when I was in 1st or 2th grade and our teacher showed us a movie about some girl named Molly who was an immigrant from Russia and at school she was teased and left out but then I think there was some part where theres was an assignment to make like a doll or whatever and Molly had the best one because she made it to look like a traditional Russian dancer or i dont know...I remember Molly always having 2 braids and I believe this was also a book so help me out? what was this called?
